Our Driver Training & Certification Standards
At WellWay, safety, professionalism, and compassionate care are at the heart of everything we do. Every driver undergoes a rigorous training and screening process to ensure the highest level of service for our passengers and their families.
Training & Certifications Include:
- CPR, First Aid & AED Certification
Equipping drivers to respond effectively in emergency situations.
- Defensive Driving
Focused on proactive techniques to reduce risk and ensure safe transport.
- Spill Cleanup & Bloodborne Pathogen Training
Proper protocols for safely handling biohazard incidents.
- Wheelchair Securement Training
Ensuring safe and secure transport for all mobility devices.
- Child Transportation Training
Specialized instruction for the secure and sensitive transport of children.
- Behavioral Health Awareness
Training to recognize and respond appropriately to mental and emotional health needs during transport.
- PASS Training (Passenger Assistance, Safety, and Sensitivity)
A nationally recognized certification through the Community Transportation Association of America (CTAA), focused on the safe, respectful, and effective care of individuals with disabilities and special needs.
- HIPAA Compliance
All drivers are trained to handle passenger information with full confidentiality and in compliance with HIPAA standards.
- Two Weeks of On-the-Job Shadowing
New hires train alongside a supervisor to observe, learn, and meet WellWay’s high standards before operating independently.
Screening & Compliance
- Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) Checks
All drivers have a clean driving history and are regularly reviewed.
- Nationwide Criminal Background Checks
Comprehensive checks ensure safety and trustworthiness.
- Drug Testing
All drivers pass a pre-employment drug screen and are subject to random testing.
